One of the biggest problems you may face when you invest in a home business opportunity is that your sponsor becomes unresponsive. This is more common than you may realize. You see, your sponsor has something to gain, usually from a financial standpoint, when he or she brings you into the business. But after that gain on their part, they have nothing more to gain from helping you succeed. This lack of support from a sponsor is why so many people fail at the home business opportunity that they have selected.

You need support from your sponsor. This is true even if there is a marketing system in place for you to duplicate. Without that guidance from your sponsor, you will most likely fail, and you will also fail to be able to help those who come into the business under you as well. Therefore, before you invest, ask these questions:

1. How often will my sponsor be in contact with me? Can I contact my sponsor easily? What methods of communication are to be used?  What hours will my sponsor be available to me? It is reasonable to assume that your sponsor will only make him self available during certain hours. Remember that he is also growing his business. He cannot be expected to stay on the phone with you all day everyday.

2. Aside from company training sessions, does my sponsor also offer training sessions or motivational calls strictly for those that he is sponsoring? A great sponsor will hold regular teleconferences in an attempt to inform his down line about new products, company changes, new marketing techniques, and other interests that concern the business opportunity.

3. Does my sponsor have motivation to support me? Often, this is not the case, unfortunately. Really look at this and determine why your sponsor will keep supporting you while you grow your business. If you can’t find any good reason, the chances are good that he probably won’t continue with his support.

4. Is my sponsor successful in this business? Has he proven it? Lots of people can talk a good game, but the fact is that your sponsor may not be succeeding very well in the business. Take the time to find out for sure. Ask lots of questions, and if your questions are making him uncomfortable, you need to find out why.

5. Is my sponsor getting support from his sponsor? If he isn’t, the chances are good that he won’t be supporting you very long either. Find out who his sponsor is, and take the opportunity to speak with him as well. Will your sponsors sponsor also offer support to you?

Everywhere you look, you will see hype. There will be promises of big money in short periods of time – in exchange for very little work on your part. There will be pictures of smiling people in mansions, with fancy cars parked out front, or pictures of expensive vacations or boats. The trick is to look past the hype to discover whether or not you will find success with the business opportunity. Ask lots of questions, and don’t stop asking until you are satisfied. Remember that anything that sounds too good to be true probably is. It is reasonable to wonder why a business opportunity would use all of that hype in their sales material, if the opportunity really does have the potential to make a decent income. Again, we all have dreams of wealth, and that is played upon in any sales copy. It is the standard. It is what is expected.

Be honest with yourself. If you read dry sales copy that didn’t put visions of money in your head would you be interested in the business opportunity? As much as we all hate hype, the chances are good that you would lose interest quickly. So, just because hype is used in sales copy, this doesn’t mean that the opportunity won’t be everything that you want it to be. Again, take the time to investigate and to talk to others to find out what their results have been before making your final decision.
